Vandals sought in recent wave of broken windows

Brookhaven Police Chief Kenneth Collins said officers are working behind the scenes to put an end to a wave of vandalism across the city over the past several days.
Windows of cars, houses and businesses have been shattered by ball bearings or steel shot by slingshots. Officers worked “all night” Saturday night Collins said and continue to follow leads to apprehend the culprits.
“We are doing our best to catch these people and get this vandalism stopped,” Collins said.
Collins said the vandals do not realize how serious what they are doing is — a person could be struck by a bearing or could use a weapon to fire at the person with a slingshot.
“We ask people to be vigilant and help us catch them before somebody gets hurt,” he said.
