Twelve team hits were more than enough for Brookhaven Academy Monday night against Bowling Green School in MAIS softball action.

The Lady Cougars made quick work of the visitors from Franklinton, Louisiana in an 11-1 win in five innings.

Coach Becky Flower’s team moves to 11-2-1 on the season with the victory.

The senior duo of Abby Grace Richardson and Bailee Goodson hit home runs for BA in the win while fellow senior Madison Moak hit a double at the plate.

Richardson drove in four runs, Goodson pushed three across the plate and Kensy Covington had two RBIs as well for BA. Moak and Bailey Park also had one RBI each.

Moak, Covington, Emme Barrett and Maddie Bullock all had two hits each for the Lady Cougars.

Senior pitcher Emily Claire Felder gave up three hits on 60 pitches. She struck out six, walked none and also had a hit at the plate.

BA went 2-1 last weekend at the Tri-County Academy Tournament in Clinton. The Lady Cougars beat Marshall Academy 6-2, lost 4-3 to Simpson Academy and closed the day with a 6-2 win over Magnolia Heights.

The team will be back in action at home on Aug. 23 when they host Wayne Academy.
