Due to the impending impacts of Hurricane Ida, the Brookhaven Building located at 1154 Beltline Drive will open as a temporary SAFE ROOM at noon on Sunday, Aug. 29, for anyone who may need a place to stay.
Please bring any essential supplies, medications, food, bottled water and personal items you may need — only restrooms and a few chairs will be provided, according to Chris Reid, Brookhaven/Lincoln County Emergency Management Director.
Social distancing and masks are required due to COVID-19. Pets are not permitted.
“We encourage everyone to be safe and refrain from unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions. If you have an emergency, please dial 9-1-1 or call the Brookhaven Police Department at 601-833-2424,” a statement on the city’s Facebook page read Saturday evening.
