There won’t be a chance for the home fans to see the Brookhaven High Panthers in action this week in Sinclair Gymnasium as the school will play both games on the road.
On Tuesday, Nov. 30, BHS heads north to Jackson to take on the Murrah Mustangs with girl’s action beginning at 6 p.m.
Coach Preston Wilson’s girls’ team is 7-3 on the season and have won five games in a row, inducing a pair of victories over Tylertown and East Marion at the Lawrence County Tournament last week.
Wilson’s team returned four of its top five scorers from last season including junior guard Angel Wilkinson who is again topping the squad in scoring as she did last season.
Murrah is 5-2 overall after losing 55-27 to an unbeaten Meridian team on Nov. 22.
On Friday, Dec. 3, both BHS teams are back on the road to face Franklin County in Meadville. The Panthers also start out the following week with a road game at Tylertown on Dec. 7.
The next chance for Ole Brook fans to see their teams at home comes on Dec. 10 when they host Lawrence County.
The BHS boys are under the leadership of first year head coach Charlton Gray. Gray has his team off to a similar hot start as the Panthers sit at 6-2 on the year with their only losses to 6A Germantown and Brandon High.
The senior duo of Demeriuntia Jackson and Elijah Kennedy lead the BHS offense. Jackson is averaging 16.7 points per game thus far while Kennedy is chipping in 11.1 points per night.
