Due to dry conditions across the state, intentional burning of limbs, grass, etc. is discouraged by local fire departments and the National Weather Service.

Brookhaven Fire Department Chief Jeff Ainsworth said Monday BFD will not issue any more burn permits until further notice. Hog Chain VFD Chief John Hart said no one should have open fires until the area has had rain.

The area is also under a Red Flag warning Tuesday, due to wind gusts and dry conditions, meaning no fires should be lit in the area.
