Wet weather cancels Enterprise SB tourney

The softball tournament scheduled for Saturday that would have featured a handful of local teams playing at Enterprise has been cancelled due to the wet weather that’s come through the area in recent days.
Enterprise, West Lincoln, Loyd Star and Brookhaven were all scheduled to participate along with Pisgah and Franklin County.
First-year Enterprise head coach Alicia Smith and her team are 1-1 on the season after beating BHS 13-6 on Feb. 21 and losing 11-1 at Warren Central on Thursday.
West Lincoln (1-2) and coach Anita Thornton lost a pair of games to Sumrall last week but bounced back on Monday to beat 6A Pearl High 9-8.
Coach Scott Leggett’s Loyd Star team is 2-0 on the season after a 10-0 blowout win over Vicksburg High on Thursday.
Loyd Star jumped up 5-0 in the bottom of the first as they had 11 hits in the win. Seventh grade pitcher Layla Burt held 5A Vicksburg to just two hits on the night as she struck out eight and walked two.
Juniors Marley Britt and Alyssa Leggett led the LS offense with three RBIs apiece. Leggett hit a home run while Britt and Brooke Cade each hit a double.
Leggett, Marley Britt and Aubrey Britt each had two hits apiece while Carson Hughey, Baylee Zumbro, Ainsley Gennaro, Cade and Burt had one hit each.
Ole Brook coach Mandy Vinson and her squad are officially 0-1 this season after their game against Wesson was rained out in the third inning on Monday.
BHS is scheduled to play at Salem on Monday and at Pearl on Tuesday before hosting Salem on Thursday of next week.
