Local talents Kara Beth Addison of West Lincoln and Angel “Cookie” Wilkinson of Brookhaven High will be part of the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) North/South Basketball All-Star Game on Saturday.
The event puts together the best juniors in the state for four games, beginning at noon with the 1A/2A/3A girls’ game in A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton.
That’s the game in which Addison will suit up for a South Team that will be coached by Holly Moncrief on Puckett High and Charles Neely of Our Lady Academy.
The 5-foot-11 Addison plays point-forward for WL coach Alissa Adams and was instrumental in West Lincoln making the MHSAA 2A semifinals this season.
Addison will be joined on her team by 6-foot-1 forward Katrecia Craig of Crystal Springs and 5-foot-5 guard Ja’Kya Brown of Franklin County.
The 4A/5A/6A girls’ game is scheduled to begin at approximately 4 p.m.
Greta Ainsworth of Pass Christian and Candace Foster of Brandon High will coach the South Team that features Wilkinson.
The last time the 5-foot-7 Wilkinson was on the court in game action, she scored 19 points in the 4th quarter that led a comeback by Brookhaven High that fell just short in the MHSAA 5A semifinals.
Lawrence County head coach Pat Bridges will coach the South Team in the 4A/5A/6A boys’ game that serves as the finale. Bridges will coach alongside Brandon Jennings of Petal High and will have one of his own Cougars — 5-foot-11 guard Keith Taylor Jr. — on his team.
The final boys’ game is scheduled to begin at approximately 6 p.m.
