Since 1996, the MHSAA has bestowed student-athletes from across the state the annual Lindy Callahan Scholarship. Named in honor of longtime Gulfport High athletic director and coach Lindy Callahan, the award is a $1,500 scholarship given to one boy and one girl from each of the MHSAA’s eight geographical districts.

This year, Brookhaven High senior Trey Knott was selected as the boys’ recipient from District VII. Knott has been a standout runner during his career at Brookhaven High.

The son of Shannon and Cathe Knott, he was coached in cross-country and track by his father. Knott was part of a BHS cross-country team that won three straight 5A state titles.
