‘Ribeyes for Rotary’: Sink your teeth into humanitarian efforts

Enjoy a steak and support local humanitarian efforts at “Ribeyes for Rotary.”
The second annual event on June 16 is the only fundraising effort during the year for the Rotary Club of Brookhaven-Lincoln County.
Tickets are $25 and are available for pre-sale through June 9. Plates include an 8-10 oz. ribeye, baked potato casserole, green beans and a roll, prepared by Mitchell’s Catering. Plates can be picked up curbside at Mitchell’s that Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Some plates may be available that day for purchase, but pre-sales are encouraged “to guarantee a delicious plate,” according to Chapter President Shannon Miller.
“Last year was our first year doing the ribeyes,” Miller said. “It was a huge success. We ran out and could have sold more.”
All funds raised by Rotary remain within the local area.
“We donate to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation for scholarship, to Mississippi Scholars, and our service project Comfort Bears,” Miller said. “We also make donations to other civic and non-profit organizations in Lincoln County.”
Comfort Bears provides more than 200 stuffed bears to local law enforcement and emergency personnel, to give to children in times of crisis. Rotary also helped with hurricane relief efforts to Houma in 2021.
“We try to donate a lot back to the community,” Miller said.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 601-668-7292 or from any Rotary member.
Anyone interested in Rotary membership can attend a regular meeting or contact Miller at 662-312-1958 for a membership form. Regular meetings are the first three Thursdays of each month at noon at Mitchell’s.
