Two Lincoln County officers have completed the Certified Investigator Program at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy.

Det. Sgt. LaToya Beacham, of the Brookhaven Police Department, and Master Sgt. Andrew Montgomery, of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, graduated from the five-month intensive program at the end of May. The program took 400 hours, scheduled across 40 days in January to May.

Beacham was chosen by her peers to be leader of the 2022-A class. CIP Director Robert Cullum expressed his admiration for her leadership in his graduation comments.

“LaToya, you’ve been outstanding, an amazing leader. I know the class will agree 100 percent,” Cullum said. “In everything you’ve done these last five months, you’ve put your heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into this, and we can’t thank you enough. Thank you for what you’ve done for our class … We’re like family. I think you’ll agree.”

Beacham has been in law enforcement for 21 years. Working with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, she worked her way up from the jail in Raymond to juvenile investigations in Jackson. Beacham moved to Brookhaven in 2018, and has worked in BPD as a patrolman and detective.

“I would like to thank the City of Brookhaven,” Beacham said, “for allowing me the opportunity to train and sharpen my skills to better serve this great community in an effort to keep it the Home Seekers Paradise.”
