Brookhaven Police are investigating a Tuesday night murder.
At 9:26 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a home at 414 Old Wesson Road.
“Upon arrival, officers found a subject lying on the floor, not moving,” said Chief Kenneth Collins.
Witnesses identified the victim as Jerrivonte Harris, of 100 Eastview Drive No. 5. Harris, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound, by the Lincoln County Coroner’s office.
“We are asking for people to come forward and help us solve this homicide,” Collins said. “We cannot do it without your help. We are going to do our best to solve it.”
“This senseless gun violence” in Brookhaven must stop, the chief said.
“It’s going to take everyone to step up and help us, especially the family members of these kids,” Collins said.
The chief did not say whether one or more suspects were being sought in connection with the murder.
The case remains under investigation.
