Tornado, straight line winds hit Lincoln County

A tornado and straight line winds caused damage Friday in Lincoln County.

The National Weather Service in Jackson sent a survey team to the county Sunday to assess damage from early Friday morning storms. The team confirmed a EF1 tornado in the southern portion of the county that produced winds up to 100 mph. This tornado downed powerlines and many large trees.

The team also surveyed an area in northwest Lincoln County that experienced straight line winds up to 74 mph. Trees were uprooted in this area, including one tree that fell onto a mobile home causing damage.
