First Baptist Church loves India, and so do hundreds of other local people.

Since 2012, members of the church have conducted the “I Love India Garage Sale,” only missing 2020 due to COVID-19.

The sale returns Friday with thousands of items for sale. All money taken in will support Agape Outreach Ministries India, run by local missionaries and India natives Sam and Jezy Varghese.

Varghese is director of 50 pastors and churches in India. Two church buildings have recently been built, and this year’s sale proceeds will go to help finish building a children’s home. Varghese hopes to have the project completed by May.

“Come support missions and get a great bargain,” said organizer Carrie Sones. “Expect wonderful things.”

This year’s sale has furniture, sporting goods, tons of tools, jewelry, toys, decorations, holiday items, children’s items, shoes — “Everything you can imagine,” Sones said.

“This is a way to spread the good news of Jesus in India,” Sones said. “It’s definitely worth your money!”

The sale will be in the FBC gym, Friday and Saturday, March 4-5. For a $20 entry fee, early shoppers can have two hours of exclusive access to deals, 2-4 p.m. Friday. At 4 p.m., the entry fee drops to $10 per shopper. At 6 p.m., it drops again to $5. The sale will close Friday night at 8 p.m.

Saturday, the gym will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., with no entry fee.

No items can be delivered, so large-item bargain shoppers should come prepared, Sones said.
