MHP: 6 wrecks in Lincoln County; 2 fatalities in Pike, Walthall

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M officers responded to five wrecks in Lincoln County Thursday, and one Friday.

On Thursday, April 27, troopers responded to one-vehicle wrecks on Interstate 55 northbound, north of mile marker 24, at 3:53 a.m., and at 6:18 a.m. at mile marker 38.

One-vehicle crashes also occurred at 10:46 a.m. on Hwy. 575 at Dudley Rimes Road, and at 3:37 p.m. on Hwy. 550 at Allred Drive. A two-vehicle wreck took place on I-55 at 6:20 a.m. between mile markers 44 and 45.

None of these wrecks resulted in injuries.

On Friday, April 28, at 6:52 a.m. a single-vehicle wreck on I-55 southbound at exit 38 did result in injuries.

 

Fatal wrecks in Pike, Walthall counties

On Wednesday, April 26, at approximately 1:56 p.m., troopers responded to a crash on Hwy. 44 in Pike County.

A 1995 GMC pickup driven by 75-year-old Ben Andrews, of McComb, was traveling east on Hwy. 44 when it left the roadway, struck a telephone pole and overturned. Andrews received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, April 25, at approximately 1:47 p.m., troopers responded to a crash on Hwy. 98 in Walthall County.

A 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by 70-year-old Gene Quinn, of Tylertown, was traveling north on Magees Creek School Road when it collided with a 2014 Dodge Journey driven by 29-year-old Markeisha Hosey, also of Tylertown, traveling west on Hwy. 98. Quinn suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

These crashes remain under investigation by MHP.
