Approximately 700 students, faculty, family members and friends gathered in Brookhaven Academy’s John R. Gray Gymnasium to celebrate the three dozen students graduating Friday evening.
Salutatorian Kyla Armistad thanked staff, fellow students and family for their continued support. “Live in the now,” was her advice to those in attendance.
“Be thankful for everything,” Armistad said. “You only get to do a lot of things once.”
Thirteen Special Honor graduates each shared a single virtuous character trait and a supporting Scripture verse, such as “humility” — “God gives grace to the humble…” — and what the trait meant to them personally.
Following the presentation of scholarships and diplomas, valedictorian Ella Brown gave the farewell address.
She shared answers her classmates had given her about influential people, favorite memories, and things they look forward to. Many expressed appreciation to teachers, talked about fun moments, and plans for careers and families.
“What happens next?” she asked her fellow graduates, before encouraging them to trust the plans God has for them.
