BARL: Win a Florida vacation and help the animals

Brookhaven Animal Rescue League needs donations to keep operating as a no-kill shelter, and has a summery new incentive to help raise funding.

BARL volunteers are selling tickets for a chance at a six-night stay at an Airbnb in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Tickets are $25 or five for $100 for this prize valued at $1,200.

The Airbnb is pet friendly and booking dates are flexible. Sales end at midnight May 28, and the drawing will be May 30. For details, visit barl.net/events.

BARL focuses on supporting the area by caring for and adopting out unwanted animals, and preventing the number of unwanted animals being born.

“If you think about it, BARL is basically a business hoping to have to close its doors due to lack of business,” said Rusty Adcock, BARL Board president. “Spaying and neutering is key in diminishing these high numbers of homeless pets. People, help BARL go out of business. Please.”

BARL has offered discounted spay/neuter vouchers for years. The qualifications for receiving a voucher change and often depend on the grantor of the spay/neuter program. Seniors 65 and older who live in Copiah, Franklin or Lincoln County always qualify for a voucher, though BARL hopes only those with a financial need will request one.

BARL works with all veterinary clinics in Lincoln County, in addition to Copiah Animal Hospital in Copiah County and Larkin Veterinary Clinic in Franklin County. Information about spay/neuter programs is listed on barl.net/news. Residents of Copiah, Franklin or Lincoln County may also contact the vet clinics to see what vouchers they have available.

BARL volunteers fundraise throughout the year to support the animals in their care. The 501 c 3 charitable organization does not receive government funding and is dependent on fundraising efforts and donations.

All BARL animals are vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Dogs are also micro-chipped.

Individuals with questions about adopting, contributing, or volunteering should call BARL at 601-757-4367 or email info@barl.net. Donations are tax deductible and may be mailed to BARL, P.O. Box 3477, Brookhaven, MS  39603.

BARL features many of its adoptable animals online at www.barl.net or on their Facebook page.
