Two vehicles and a pistol were reported stolen overnight Thursday-Friday in Brookhaven.

“What we’ve had reported so far is two vehicles that were stolen,” said Brookhaven Police Detective Master Sgt. Jonathan Hart.

A 2008 white Lexus GS5 was stolen on Morningside Drive. A Mercedes sedan was also stolen on Ellen Drive. The Mercedes was recovered by BPD later during the night.

“The Mercedes was recovered on Oak Hill Drive,” Hart said. “Officers responded to a report of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road, and it was the Mercedes.”

The Lexus has not yet been recovered, but has been reported to the National Crime Information Center and entered into license plate readers (LPRs). If the vehicle travels under any LPR at major intersections or state lines, the reader will report the time, location and direction of travel to law enforcement agencies.

In what is likely a connected event, Hart said, a pistol was stolen from an unlocked truck in Halbert Heights. The time frame for the thefts was from approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

“I do have some camera footage from Storm Avenue that looks like two juvenile black males,” said Hart. “One is wearing khaki pants and a blue hoodie. The other is wearing all black, with something white on the chest.”

The events remain under investigation.
