Brookhaven High alum Haley Nations earns All-Conference honors again for William Carey

Senior left-handed pitcher Haley Nations has had a decorated career while suiting up for the William Carey Crusaders.

The 2023 version of Carey softball finished 39-14 overall and 20-8 in Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) play.

When the postseason awards were handed out following the season, Nation was recently picked for the First Team All-SSAC team.

Nations, who prepped for coach Mandy Vinson at Brookhaven High after starting her career at Enterprise, went 14-6 in the circle with a 1.69 ERA. Nations struck out 126 batters and walked just 26 in 116 innings of work.

Against Lindsey Wilson in her first start of the season, Nations struck out 12, walked one and threw a complete game no-hitter.

After that outing against Lindsey Wilson, Nations was tabbed as the SSAC Pitcher of the Week for the ninth time in her career.

In 2021, Nations was named SSAC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Conference. The daughter of Joel and Neeley Nations, she was also picked as an NAIA Second Team All-American during that year.

Last year, Nations was tabbed as an NAIA First Team All-American as well as being named SSAC Player and Pitcher of the Year. In 2022, Nations went 25-6, struck out 262 batters and posted a 0.91 ERA in 208.2 innings.
