Treat pets and yourself at Rescue League’s microchipping, volunteering event

This Saturday, July 8, pet owners can get their dogs or cats microchipped for just $10 at Brookhaven Animal Rescue League. The cash-only event allows owners to have a system to keep up with a lost animal, and at a price much lower than average.
Microchipped animals will also receive an engraved ID tag. All dogs must be on a leash or in a pet carrier. All cats must be in a pet carrier. The event is from noon until 3 p.m.
“This event is part of our efforts to help lost pets make it home,” said BARL volunteer Beth Adcock. “A grant from Petco Love is making this event possible.”
Volunteers are also needed Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. to help clean doggie pools. Other volunteer opportunities are also available.
“Wear old clothes and closed-toe shoes. This will involve water and a little bleach. Bring a scrub brush, if possible,” Adcock said.
Volunteers will also be able to enjoy watermelon donated by Pretty Paws Grooming.
BARL is located at 501 North Park Drive.
