Marjorie LaVerne Sandidge Case Smith celebrated her 100^th birthday recently. Smith is one of the original residents of The Aspen in Brookhaven. Family and friends joined her at The Aspen Wednesday, July 19, to celebrate.

“It’s a big birthday, so we make it a big birthday,” said Jane Smith, sales manager for Enhabit Hospice. “It’s so exciting to help and make her a princess for the day.”

Marjorie Smith has been on hospice for one year. Sullivan’s Grocery donated a birthday cake for her and volunteers decorated the cafeteria.

While The Aspen always tries to do something special for everyone’s birthday, Jane Smith said, it’s even more special when the patient is on hospice, and when they reach the milestone of 100 years.
