All of Southwest Mississippi is under a significant heat stress warning Thursday and Friday.

The highs for Brookhaven Thursday and Friday are 96 and 98, though heat indices ranging 105 to 115 degrees remain likely. Heat-related illnesses are likely with prolonged outdoor exposure, including heat stroke. The primary hours of concern are 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Anyone who must be outside should stay hydrated and take frequent breaks.

On Saturday, the area will be under a marginal risk of isolated severe storms, mainly in the afternoon. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to a quarter size are possible.
