A Brookhaven man has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
At approximately 10:36 a.m. Sunday, Brookhaven Police Department officers were called to the Field Lark Lane area on reports of animal abuse.
“The individual was throwing bricks at it,” said BPD Assistant Chief Clint Earls. “The individual was arrested. The dog was seized by Animal Control and taken to a local veterinarian.”
Earls said the suspect — identified in the Lincoln County Jail docket as Otha Barksdale — was charged with one count of misdemeanor abuse of a domesticated cat or dog.
The charge listed on the jail docket for Barksdale, 53, of 1210 NE Field Lark Lane, is “simple animal cruelty of cat/dog.”
“The suspect will be arraigned in Brookhaven Municipal Court,” Earls said.
