Published 8:06 am Friday, August 4, 2023

Six races will be decided in the Aug. 8 Lincoln County Primary Election. All will be decided in the Republican Primary. No candidate for these offices registered as Democratic or independent.

The offices that will be decided prior to the General Election are Tax Collector/Assessor; Supervisor District 2; Supervisor District 4; Supervisor District 5; Justice Court Judge Post 1; and Justice Court Constable Post 1.

For Tax Collector/Assessor, incumbent Blake Pickering is running for reelection, facing Marjorie Montgomery and Rita Wilkinson Goss.

Three Lincoln County Supervisor districts will also be decided early on. In District 2, incumbent Jerry McGehee will face Virgil E. Stewart and Keith Lewis. In District 4, Eli Ferguson, Todd Bowlin and Calvin Kees will face off. Incumbent Eddie Brown is retiring. In District 5, incumbent Doug Falvey will face Grady Case.

Incumbent Post 1 Justice Court Judge Ian Smith will face challenger Shelley Harrigill Barron.

Lance Lewis “Jr.” and Justin Case will vie for Justice Court Constable Post 1. Incumbent Kelly Porter is running for sheriff, and therefore cannot also run for reelection as constable.

If a runoff is needed for any of these races, candidates will be listed on the Primary Runoff ballot on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The winner of each race will still be listed on the ballot in the General Election. However, they will be considered the winner of the office already since they will have no other opponent on the ballot.
