On Monday, Brookhaven Police Department conducted a joint agency sting operation in relation to the recent thefts of vehicles from car dealerships.
Along with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, and Jackson Police Department, BPD was able to recover three vehicles stolen from Paul Barnett Nissan in Brookhaven and one vehicle stolen from a Jackson dealership, according to BPD Chief Kenneth Collins.
“We have several other vehicles not located yet, but this is an ongoing investigation to locate and recover, and to arrest suspects in these recent thefts of cars,” Collins said.
BPD was also able to recover a Chrysler Sebring stolen in late July from the parking lot of Walmart Distribution Center in Brookhaven. Collins expressed thanks to Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley and his deputies for their assistance in locating and recovering the car, which belongs to a DC employee.
