The Hartfield Academy Hawks (2-0) flexed their muscle early and often Friday to pick up an eventual 56-0 win over Brookhaven Academy (0-1) Friday in the season opener for the Cougars in Flowood.

Brookhaven Academy wasn’t at full strength as starting quarterback Samuel Evans, starting lineman Cole Spencer and starting receiver Thomas King were all out with various illnesses.

Hartfield led 36-0 at halftime and with a margin greater than 35 points in the second half, the game had a running clock through the final two quarters.

First year BA head coach Reggie Lea and his team will be back in action and making their home debut on Friday by hosting Centreville Academy on R.M. “Red” Stuard Field.
