Power knocked out by semi in Brookhaven

BROOKHAVEN — It is the heat of the day and 157 customers in Brookhaven are without power. Entergy reports the outage began at 3:42 p.m. and is expected to last until 5:30 p.m. when crews are able to make repairs.

A semi-truck was stuck under some down wires and appeared to be coming down Smylie Street and making a turn onto Chippewa when the accident happened. Entergy workers cleared down wires form the truck and it was able to leave the area.

Brookhaven Police Department reported no one was injured in the incident. Drivers should seek other routes as the intersection of Chippewa and Smylie is closed.
