Cotton Westbrook, Wesson

The Wesson defense is a gritty group of brothers, and the heartbeat of that unit is junior linebacker Cotton Westbrook. The Cobras pitched a second half shutout last week in a 34-14 win at Franklin County.

On the night, Westbrook made nine total tackles, including one for a loss, and forced a fumble. The Cobras have a culture of everyone knowing what their job is and going out to execute their prescribed chore each week.

For Westbrook, that looks like being around the ball at all times. He burst onto the scene last year as a first year starter during his sophomore season as he earned All-Area honors while making 95 total tackles. Westbrook and the Wesson defense will be a big factor on Friday when the Cobras (7-0) host South Pike (6-2) in a battle for first place in Region 7-3A.
