Brookhaven Police working armed carjacking

Brookhaven police are working leads on a Tuesday morning carjacking.

At approximately 5 a.m., a group of young women was carjacked at gunpoint at the Union Street Truck Stop. Chief Kenneth Collins said no one was injured, and officers are working “some good leads” at this time.

“We’re getting into the holiday season and criminals are getting desperate,” Collins said. “I urge people to be extra aware of your surroundings. Please don’t leave items in vehicles, keep your cars locked and the keys with you, and go back inside a store if you see something that doesn’t look right. Wait for the police. It might be nothing, but sometimes all you have is your intuition.”
