Brookhaven High senior defensive back Nathan Lewis is a player whose effort is easy to spot. Lewis and the BHS defense didn’t give South Jones much to work with on Friday in a 33-7 victory for the Panthers.

Lewis, who can line up in a variety of spots as a safety, made 10 tackles, including a sack for Brookhaven High in the win. Week in and out Lewis has been one of the top tacklers this season for a BHS team that is vying for second place in its region.

Against South Jones, Lewis also got a carry as a running back. He took the handoff on the BHS 20-yard line, cut back towards the middle of the field and outran everyone for an 80-yard touchdown.
