Myles Foil transferred to Bogue Chitto ahead of his junior year and instantly made the Bobcats baseball team better. Foil came to BC from North Pike and for his college choice, he is headed back to Summit after recently signing a scholarship to play baseball at Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Last season as a junior, Foil hit for a .466 average at the plate to lead coach Gareth Sartin’s Bobcat baseball team. Bogue Chitto finished 21-11 as Foil’s 48 hits earned him Daily Leader All-Area Offensive MVP honors.

Foil was also tabbed MAC Second Team All-State after a junior season in which he had 42 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 14 doubles, four home runs and two triples.

He’s a versatile player on the field too as he struck out a team best 63 batters last season as a pitcher when not playing in the field.

That versatility of being a true utility player is part of why SMCC head coach Jack Edmonson wanted Foil to become a Bear.

Southwest finished 23-28 last season for Edmonson in his second year at the school after he was previously an assistant coach at Copiah-Lincoln CC earlier in his career.

“He’s going to be able to play several different spots for us,” said Edmonson. “He will work as a catcher, outfielder and possibly an infielder. His biggest strength is his lefty bat right now. We are really excited about keeping local talent at home.”
