Wolves playing for MACCC State title at East Mississippi

The Copiah-Lincoln Wolves will take on the East Mississippi Lions on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the MACCC State Championship.

The Wolves (9-1) come into the game ranked No. 4 in the nation while EMCC (7-2) is ranked No. 6.

Last week in the semifinals, Co-Lin crushed Northwest Mississippi 48-14 in Wesson and East Mississippi smacked Mississippi Gulf Coast 33-21 in Scooba. Co-Lin and East Mississippi began the season on Sept. 7 with a matchup in Wesson that was won 23-20 by coach Glenn Davis and his Wolves.

The lone defeat this season for Co-Lin was a 42-32 loss at Jones College. Sophomore running back Johnnie Daniels powered CLCC to the win over Northwest with 163 yards and four touchdowns on just 14 attempts.

Co-Lin is trying to win a state title for the first time since 2012, a year where they beat EMCC 47-46 in a semifinal in Scooba.
