BLT members will soon take the stage to present a haunting story — “A Ghost Tale for Mr. Dickens (Jr.)” — presented by Bank of Brookhaven.
The play is based on the popular “Magic Tree House” book series, and tells the story of Charles Dickens’ inspiration in writing one of the most beloved Christmas stories (and ghost stories) of all time — “A Christmas Carol.”
With performances of the Broadway-style musical only one weekend, shows (and tickets) are limited. The five one-hour performance times are:
Thursday, Dec. 7, 7 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 9, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m.
The play is recommended for all ages, and is an adaptation of Book 44 of Mary Pope Osborne’s award-winning fantasy adventure books. Jack and Annie are taken by the magic tree house back in time to the foggy streets of Victorian London, where the meet the famous author Dickens, who has a severe case of writer’s block. The children witness the hardships faced by the poor, and their efforts to help only land them behind bars. Dickens rescues Jack and Annie and they help him escape his sad memories, inspiring him to write one of the greatest holiday stories of all time.
Performances will be presented in The Haven Theatre, 126 West Cherokee St., Brookhaven. Tickets range from $17 to $32 each, including fees, and can be purchased online at www.brookhavenlittletheatre.com
