The Loyd Star Hornets took first place in  both the boys’ and girls’ brackets of the recent Lincoln County junior high basketball tournament. The LS girls’ team is coached by Russell Cruise. The team finished 10-0 for a second straight season and ended the season with a 20-game winning streak. The Loyd Star boys’ team is coached by Seth Britt and they went 8-2 in 2023.
