A Lincoln County family lost their home to fire Sunday afternoon.

Hog Chain, Bogue Chitto and Zetus Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the call of a house fire on Hog Chain Drive Sunday afternoon just before 5 p.m.

“The original call came that someone was still in the house,” said Hog Chain VFD Chief John Hart. “But thankfully they were out by the time we got there.”

The house at 785 Hog Chain Drive suffered major damage to the attic and a lot of water damage throughout the house, Hart said.

The home belonged to Mike and Wendy Ezell, the chief said, who did have a place to stay after the fire.

Hart said the cause of the fire was undetermined. The house was a total loss, and no injuries were reported.
