MHP: 6 area wrecks across New Years holiday

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M officers worked six single-vehicle wrecks over the New Year’s holiday in Lincoln and Lawrence counties.

No injuries were reported in any of the crashes.

Two wrecks occurred on Hwy. 84 Saturday evening. At 7:10 p.m., a wreck was reported in the eastbound lanes at the intersection of Cowart Lane, just west of Interstate 55 in front of Hoods 76 gas station.

The second occurred at 10:23 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Zude Russell Road, east of Fair River in Lawrence County.

On Sunday, New Year’s Eve, three wrecks were investigated by troopers. The first was at 6:04 p.m. in Lawrence County on Hwy. 84 in westbound lanes at Fire Tower Road, east of Monticello.

A second wreck took place at 9:37 p.m. on I-55 southbound at exit 30, Bogue Chitto Road. The fifth weekend crash was at 10:12 p.m. on Hwy. 84 eastbound, at the intersection of Jackson-Liberty Road in the West Lincoln area.

Another wreck occurred Monday at 8:57 p.m. in Lawrence County — on Hwy. 43 at Maxine Lane.

All crashes are investigated by MHP.
