At least three collections have been organized to benefit the families of three people killed recently in an accident.

The Loyd Star Touchdown Club has organized a collection to benefit the family of 14-year-old Toler Jordan, a Loyd Star Attendance Center student and football player who died as a result of a Jan. 14 explosion.

Donations can be submitted to the club via check or PayPal. Checks can be made to the Touchdown Club with “Jordans” on the note line. PayPal donations can be submitted to sarahbug5683@hotmail.com. One-hundred percent of all donations will go to the family.

The accident took place at the home of Jordan’s uncle Benjy Jordan, 43, and cousin 18-year-old Houston “Bubba” Jordan, both of whom also died as a result of the blast. Houston was a 2023 graduate of Reading Nook Academy in Brookhaven and a former Brookhaven Academy football player.

Another person was seriously injured, and is receiving treatment. This person has not been officially identified by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Donations are also being accepted at Riverwood Family Funeral Services and at Trustmark National Bank. Donations at Riverwood should be made in person at the 76 Hwy. 51 South office. Cash donations can be made at any of the Brookhaven Trustmark locations — 148 South Whitworth Ave., 776 Brookway Boulevard, and 200 Hwy. 51.
