A total of 12 weather-related deaths have been reported across Mississippi since Jan. 14.

Three deaths reported to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency were specified as due to vehicle accidents — one on Hwy. 49 in Humphreys County, and two on Hwy. 15 in Chickasaw County.

The other nine deaths have been described as “winter weather-related” or due to extreme cold. Twenty-nine injuries have also been reported to MEMA.

Reports came from the following counties:

Chickasaw — 2 deaths

Grenada — 2 injuries

Humphreys — 1 death

Leflore — 2 deaths

Marshall — 1 injury, 1 death

Panola — 6 injuries, 2 deaths

Rankin — 17 injuries, 1 death

Sharkey — 1 death

Sunflower — 1 death

Washington — 3 injuries, 1 death
