Why fire an experienced police officer?

Dear Editor,

OK, I really don’t understand. The Board of Aldermen of Brookhaven, MS have chosen to fire the assistant chief of police. What on earth are you doing?

I know this is a personnel issue. And I don’t know all the details. We are in need of experienced police officers. We can’t keep police officers. And five of our aldermen choose to fire an officer with 30-plus years of experience. What is the problem in our city?

Is there in fighting and grudges that are being taken out on city employees?

It would be a good idea if Chief Collins or the Mayor would address this issue.

I know it is hard to please the folks in our town. But Gentlemen, we are better than this. Thanks, aldermen Caston and Grice for standing for the right thing and voting against this.

Looking forward to a response from those in charge.
