BHS girls track and field win Camellia City Relays

The two-time defending MHSAA 5A state championship winning girl’s track and field program at Brookhaven High again flexed its muscles last week with a first place finish at the Camellia City Relays hosted by McComb High.

The BHS boys finished in second place at the event.

First place finishers for the BHS girls included Jasmine Robertson (800-meter run), Isabella Iles (1,600-meter run, 3,200-meter run) and Sierra Edwards (100-meter hurdles).

The 4×800 relay team also won first place, paced by Robertson, Iles, Annabelle Summers and Ariyana Graham.

Edwards also finished second in the high jump and Kema Roberts was second in the discus for BHS. Zharia Belcher came in second in the shot put for the Panthers while her teammate Taylin Stallings finished in third place.

Robertson, Edwards, Kelise Watson and Chrisiyona Quarles finished second in the 4×400 relay. Quarles was also third in the 100-meter hurdles while Summers came in third in the 1,600-meter run and second in the 3,200-meter run.

Quarles and Edwards finished second and third respectively in the 400-meter run and Quarles was also second in the 200-meter dash.

Coleman Knott captured the 1,600-meter run for the Ole Brook boys’ squad while also finishing third in the 3,200-meter run. Other podium finishes for the Panthers included Caiden Quarles (third in 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash), William Buie (third in the 400-meter run), Cooper Wallace (second in the 3,200-meter run) and Kemarion Brown (third in the 110-meter hurdles, third in the 300-meter hurdles).

The 4×100 meter relay team of Xavier Gayten, Zeden Williams, Jaden Allen and Quarles finished second behind Hattiesburg High. Williams, Allen, Caiden Quarles and Kelan Quarles finished second in the 4×200 meter relay, also behind Hattiesburg.

The 4×400 meter relay team of Williams, Buie, Jamien Wright and Dylan Bracey finished third in that race.

Markiell Robinson finished second in the discus for the Panthers and Allen was second in the high jump.

BHS track and field is coached by Darien Dorsey, Tonya Johns, Jocelyn Robinson and Peter Kettle. The Panthers are next scheduled to run on their home track, April 4 at the annual BHS Invitational.
