A combined 14 hits over the course of two games would be all that West Lincoln needed on Thursday to score 40 runs in a sweep of Amite County.

The Trojans from Liberty struggled to get the ball to the plate as they handed out 11 walks in game one and 10 walks in game two. AC also had eight combined errors, 32 combined wild pitches and 11 combined hit batters in the double header.

When they could get the bat on the ball, the Bears had some hard hits. Kaylee Wallace homered in the opener while Caroline Hedgepeth smacked a double and Kylie Jarancik smashed a triple.

Hedgepeth hit two doubles in game two and Riley Martin also doubled in the win. Ryleigh Purdy hit a triple in game two as did Addi Myers.

Amite County did not get a hit on the day as Hedgepeth, Whitney Grace Whittington and Haleigh Wallace all saw time in the pitching circle.

West Lincoln (10-6) will next meet Loyd Star (10-6) in a series to determine first place in Region 7-2A. The Bears will host game one of the pairing on Tuesday and then will play at Loyd Star on Thursday.

Wesson 15, Jefferson County 0

As is the case in their region matchups, the Wesson Cobras faced little opposition on moving to 13-2 this season with a sweep of Jefferson County.

Senior catcher Julianna Wilson hit two doubles for Wesson in game one. Wesson coach Michelle Nunnery also saw Emileigh Woodson, Kenslie Carter and Mallory Sanders hit a double each. The Cobras also got a triple from freshman Jaide Shoop.

Sanders struck out all nine batters she faced in game one. In game two, Maddie Sanders walked one and stuck out nine while also hitting a triple at the plate.

Enterprise 20, Leake 0

Enterprise 21, Leake 1

EAC head coach Alicia Smith and her team cruised to a pair of wins at home on Thursday over Leake County. The Yellow Jackets are in a softball region with Taylorsville, Leake Couty and Stringer.

The Jackets swept Taylorsville last week two wins (6-5, 12-2). Stringer also took down Taylorsville twice this week (10-0, 15-1).

That sets up a two-game series next week that will decide the region champion between Stringer (12-4-1) and EAC (11-5).

Gracie Williams and Piper Martin each homered in the game one win for Enterprise on Thursday. Martin doubled as did Caitlin Case. EAC had 11 hits in the opener. Martin, the leadoff batter, drove in five runs.

Pitcher Zoey Dean struck out all six batters she faced in the opener.

Terra Vining pitched the win in game two. In game two, Natalie Williams doubled, Miranda Anderson doubled, and Case hit a triple. Case drove in a team high four RBIs in the nightcap.

Florence High 13,

Brookhaven High 6

Brookhaven High jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but saw visiting Florence use 11 hits to earn a region win over the Panthers.

The game was closer than the first matchup between the schools, a 15-0 victory for the Eagles on March 5.

Journi Hunt and Anna Kaitlyn Dooley led BHS with two hits each. Hunt homered, her fourth home run in the last four games. BHS and coach Mandy Vinson will host North Pike on Tuesday.
