Lawrence County Schools close in anticipation of foul weather

Lawrence County Schools have announced their campuses will be closed on Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather.
Other schools have not yet announced plans to close Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Jackson has placed Lincoln, Jefferson, Franklin, Copiah, Pike and Lawrence Counties under a moderate risk of severe storms. Damaging wind gusts could reach 80 mph with large hail up to golf ball size, tornadoes are likely with some possibly strong. Storms are expected to move through the area between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Brookhaven School District Superintendent Dr. Rod Henderson and Lincoln County School District Superintendent Dr. David Martin said the districts are monitoring the weather and will make a decision Tuesday evening.
