Update: Law enforcement searching for man involved in Brookhaven shooting

BROOKHAVEN — Officers are trying to capture a man who shot at police investigators in Brookhaven Thursday afternoon.
People reported there was a police presence by Mamie Martin Elementary School this afternoon. Brookhaven School District Superintendent Roderick Henderson said he has been in contact with Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins during the incident and said the law enforcement presence was a precaution.
“He told me they are looking for a suspect in the area. The officers were there as a precaution,” Henderson said.
At this time there are no impacts to after school traffic according to Henderson.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M said they were initially called to help but the call was canceled for them and referred any further questions to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
