First Bank has announced the promotion of Cheyenne Murphy of Brookhaven to Market President. Murphy is the first woman to hold the position. She will serve over offices in Lincoln and Lawrence counties.
“Cheyenne has done an excellent job leading those offices this past year, and we have the utmost confidence in her ability to continue as leader of that market,” said First Bank President and CEO Charlie Lewis.
Murphy has been in banking for 14 years serving in various capacities, such as lending, branch management, and customer service. She joined First Bank as a teller in 2009 after graduating North Pike High School as valedictorian. She has an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from Southwest Mississippi Community College, and graduated from Mississippi School of Banking where she was awarded the Donald L Moak Achievement Award for highest academic honors.
Murphy is an active member in the community, participating in educational events on personal finance, including MBA’s “A Banker in Every Classroom,” and Brookhaven Junior Auxiliary’s “Real World” budget event for high school students. She also serves on the board of the Brookhaven Servitium Club.
“Working for a community bank has brought me great joy through service,” Murphy said. “There is a wonderful satisfaction in watching the growth and success of our community, friends, and family as they establish their credit, purchase their first home, or open their own business. I am thankful to have the opportunity to play a small part in achieving those goals.”
Murphy lives in Lincoln County with her husband, Chris, and their two sons, Jett and Graham.
