April is the Month of the Military Child and some of the juniors and Son of American Legion (SAL) members at the American Legion Post 79, Wesson, wanted to honor local veterans this year.
They have learned so much since becoming members of the Legion family and they wanted show their appreciation and patriotism at the meeting held Tuesday, April 16.
The students, grades 7- 11, conducted the entire program, leading the pledge, preamble, and the POW/MIA table ceremony.
After breaking for dinner, the students gave a devotion, showed the proper way to fold a flag, and then had a military child table ceremony.
After that they entertained everyone with a “Ragged Old Flag” skit.
Those participating were SAL Walker Breazeale of Wesson, junior Mary Murphy Brady of Petal, junior Cailley Duplantis of Pattison, and junior Abbey Berch of Wesson.
