Brookhaven Academy eighth-grader Peyton Davis finished third on Wednesday in the triple jump at the MAIS 5A South State Meet hosted by Silliman Institute in Clinton, Louisiana.

Davis had previously finished second at the district meet for the Cougars with a jump of 31 feet and seven inches. Her best attempt on Wednesday went for 31 feet and 6.50 inches.

The field events for the MAIS 5A State Meet will take place on Friday, May 3 at Jackson Academy.
