Car burglaries, thefts update

“On April 18, 2024, one of my detectives was serving a felony warrant on a suspect,” Collins said, referring to suspect Kriston Ramsey.

“The suspect grabbed his own firearm causing it to discharge as the detective tussled with him over the weapon,” the chief said. “Since this suspect has been locked up, 80 percent of the car burglaries and stolen vehicles has come to a stop.”

“It’s such a high honor and privilege to have and work with dedicated officers who give so much. I’m thankful to the people for entrusting me with the role of chief of police through their votes. It doesn’t matter where you came from but where you can be. It’s not about power but keeping the city safe,” said Collins.
