A Louisiana woman has died as the result of a Sunday crash on Hwy. 61 in Wilkinson County.

At approximately 6:36 p.m., Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M officers responded to reports of a crash on Hwy. 61.

A 2013 Acura TL driven by 39-year-old Robin McCastle of Ferriday, Louisiana, was traveling north on Hwy. 61 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree, said Troop M Cpl. Craig James. McCastle’s passenger — 68-year-old Patricia Williamson of Sicily Island, Louisiana — suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP. Troop M is based in Brookhaven.
