Southern Miss football player killed in Tuesday shooting

A senior football player for The University of Southern Mississippi has been killed in a Tuesday night shooting, according to Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem.
Klem identified the victim as 21-year-old Marcus “MJ” Daniels Jr., from Lucedale. She confirmed Daniels had been shot, and was pronounced dead. His body was sent to the medical examiner for autopsy.
The shooting took place at the Ivy Row housing complex on Ivy Row Circle, near the USM campus in Hattiesburg.
A standout football player from George County High, the 6-2 cornerback previously played at Ole Miss prior to transferring to Southern.
