Korben Altman, West Lincoln

A junior catcher, Altman led West Lincoln at the plate in a season where the Bears (13-16) made the MHSAA 2A postseason. Altman finished with a team-best .444 batting average at the plate for coaches Tony and Craig Davis while driving in 19 runs. Of his team-high 28 hits, eleven were doubles and one went for a triple. From his catching position, Altman caught 11 runners trying to steal in 2024.

Caleb Authement, Brookhaven Academy

A sophomore pitcher, Authement provided power at the plate and on the hill for the Cougars (16-16). A repeat All-Area selection, Authement led the Cougars with six home runs and finished with a .313 batting average. On the hill, he struck out 53 batters, second most on the team, and finished with a 4.29 ERA. He finished second on the team with 26 RBIs for coach Randy Spring and a BA squad that made the second round of the MAIS 5A playoffs.

Brandon Burt, Loyd Star

A senior outfielder, Burt was one of the leaders of a Loyd Star squad that won Region 7-2A for a fourth straight year under coach Jared Britt. Burt was second on the team with 27 RBIs for the Hornets (22-8). An All-Area selection in football, Burt hit eight doubles and a team-high four triples. Burt finished second on the team with 36 runs scored and batted for a .314 batting average.

Kannon Cato, Lawrence County

A senior outfielder, Cato has signed to play both baseball and football at Copiah-Lincoln CC. In 2024, he led the Lawrence County Cougars (10-11-1) at the plate with a .364 batting average. An All-Area selection in both sports throughout his career, Cato had a team-best 24 hits for coach Seth Avants. Cato hit four doubles, one triple, drove in eight runs and scored a team-best 35 runs.

Conner Cunningham, Loyd Star

A senior infielder, Cunningham led Loyd Star (22-8) in RBIs for a second straight season. A repeat All-Area selection, Cunningham drove in a team-best 31 runs. A versatile player who’s seen time at catcher and the corner infield spots during his career, he finished with a .384 batting average in 2024 for coach Jared Britt. An All-Area selection in football as an offensive lineman, Cunningham hit eight doubles and one triple this season at the plate.

Samuel Evans, Brookhaven Academy

A senior infielder, Evans had his best year in his final season suiting up for the Cougars (16-16). He finished second on the team with a .412 batting average for coach Randy Spring and scored a team best 39 runs as the leadoff batter in the lineup. An All-Area selection in football as a first-year quarterback, Evans hit eight doubles, two triples and drove in eight runs for the Cougars at the plate to help put BA make the second round of the MAIS 5A postseason.

Prewitt Falvey, Enterprise

A junior designated hitter, “Big Rig” Falvey provided the pop at the plate for Enterprise and coach Austin Hood. Falvey led the Yellow Jackets (19-13) with 37 hits this season as Enterprise reached the MHSAA 1A quarterfinals for a second straight season. A repeat All-Area selection, he was also tops on the team with a .370 batting average while hitting five doubles, three triples, seven home runs and putting up 31 RBIs in 2024.

Myles Foil, Bogue Chitto

A senior utility player, Foil once again did a little bit of everything at the plate and in the field to help put the Bobcats (17-14) back in the MHSAA 2A playoffs. The 2023 All-Area Offensive MVP, Foil has signed to next play at Southwest Mississippi CC. At the plate, he was second on the team with a .312 batting average. Foil smacked 13 doubles, one triple and two home runs for coach Gareth Sartin. Foil was also second on the team with 21 RBIs. A catcher when he wasn’t pitching, Foil spent 31 innings on the mound and struck out a team-high 45 batters.

Wyatt Garrett, Wesson

A junior pitcher, Garrett had an especially strong showing in 2024 for the Cobras (12-13) on the mound. In just over 38 innings pitched, he struck out 55 batters and finished with a 1.09 ERA for coach Vance Windom. A three-time All-Area baseball selection who’s also earned the honor on the football field, he helped Wesson reach the second round of the MHSAA 3A playoffs and is the son of Wesson assistant coach Josh Garrett.

Noah Gatlin, Bogue Chitto

A senior outfielder, Gatlin led the Bobcats (17-14) in many offensive categories as Bogue Chitto was put out in the MHSAA 2A second round by the eventual state champs from St. Andrew’s. Gatlin had the best batting average on the team at .317 and tied for the most hits on the squad with 26. A leadoff batter, he drove in 17 runs for coach Gareth Sartin and scored 29 runs while striking out just seven times in 106 plate appearances.

Tucker Kyzar, Bogue Chitto

A sophomore infielder, Kyzar was the top RBI man in 2024 for the Bobcats (17-14). His 32 RBIs lead the way for coach Gareth Sartin’s squad. The 6-foot-2 Kyzar played first base and pitched and hit for power, as he led BC with five home runs. A .300 hitter, Kyzar also hit six doubles and struck out 16 in 14 innings on the mound.

Ryder Martin, Enterprise

A sophomore pitcher, Martin was once again a leader on the mound for the Yellow Jackets (19-13) and coach Austin Hood. A repeat All-Area selection, Martin led EAC with 54.1 innings thrown. He struck out 70 batters and finished with a 2.19 ERA, the best on the team for an Enterprise program that went back to the MHSAA 1A quarterfinals for a second-straight season.

Nathan Mills, Loyd Star

A senior infielder, Mills was part of the senior core that led the Hornets to another 20-win season in 2024. A shortstop who can also pitch, Mills is a repeat All-Area selection who also was picked for the All-Area teams in both soccer and basketball during his senior year. At the plate, he drove in 18 runs and batted .317 for coach Jared Britt and the Hornets (22-8). Mills hit eight doubles, two triples, scored 29 runs and had a 1.78 ERA in seven pitching appearances.

Drew Nelson, Brookhaven

A junior infielder, Nelson slid in to fill a hole at first base for the Panthers (15-11-1) and coach Matt White. A 6–foot-1 first baseman, drove in 13 runs and batted for a .347 average while making the MHSAA All-Region 5-3A team. Nelson hit 10 doubles and three triples to help BHS reach the 5A postseason.

Matt Newman, Brookhaven Academy

A senior outfielder, Newman has signed to continue his career next season at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Newman finished with a .329 batting average for coach Randy Spring as the Cougars (16-16) made the second round of the MAIS 5A playoffs. The 6-foot-5 Newman accounted for 26 RBIs while hitting six doubles and two home runs for the Cougars.

Austin Rylee, Brookhaven

A senior pitcher, Rylee made an impact in his one season as a Panther after transferring in from Saint Amant in Louisiana. The Jones County College signee played third base when not pitching for coach Matt White and the Panthers (15-11-1). 

On the mound, he struck out 77 batters in 47.2 innings of work while maintaining a 3.95 ERA. At the plate, Rylee put up a .467 batting average, hitting seven doubles, two triples and driving in 26 runs.

Preston Selman, Wesson

A senior utility player, Selman led the Cobras (12-13) in nearly every offensive category in 2024. 

He batted a team best .346 at the plate while being first in hits (28), RBIs (25), and doubles. Selman also hit one triple and one home run to help lead coach Vance Windom’s squad to the second round of the MHSAA 3A playoffs.

Caleb Smith, Loyd Star

A senior outfielder, Smith had a team best 36 hits for the Hornets (22-8) in 2024. A repeat All-Area selection, Smith put up the top average on the team, finishing with a .398 performance. 

The speedy Smith legged out 10 doubles, one triple, and had one home run. He drove in 25 runs and scored 38 times for coach Jared Britt as the leadoff batter in the order.

Mason White, Brookhaven

A junior infielder, White started for a second-straight season at shortstop for the Panthers (15-11-1) and his coach and dad, Matt White. White finished with a .910 fielding percentage while driving in 16 runs and putting up a .345 average at the plate. White legged out five doubles to help BHS finish as a MHSAA 5A playoff team.

Colby Terrell, Loyd Star

A senior infielder, Terrell helped the Hornets (22-8) keep hold of first place in Region 7-2A. A multiple All-Area selection in basketball, Terrell batted for a .329 average while playing first base for coach Jared Britt. Terrell drove in 19 runs, hit three doubles, and scored 26 runs for a Hornet team that reached the second round of the MHSAA 2A bracket.
