LAKE LINCOLN — Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said a fisherman was found dead at Lake Lincoln State Park Monday morning. First responders were dispatched following a call at 9:40 a.m.

Rushing said a family member found the man in the lake around the bridge on Sunset Road SE.

“All indications were he was fishing this morning,” Rushing said. “There were no signs of foul play at this point which means it may have been a medical episode. No one was with him, they were coming to fish and saw him in the water.”

Responders pulled the man from the water and he was declared deceased on scene. Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace identified the man as Carl Vaughn, aged 66, and said the family was notified.
